Smoked Gouda (aka Dwight) is the unicorn someone is looking for. He knows every aspect of his job and absolutely loves what he does! He is super cowy with picture perfect reining moves. The unicorn part – he truly has a heart of gold and is as honest as they come! He will give you 100% every time! He knows his job and loves what he does. He has taught me so much and taken us to the winner’s circle. He makes it so much fun! He has not been over shown and is easy to keep tuned up.
In his younger days (2017) Smoked Gouda was the Reserve World Champion in the Limited Open Bridle class at the National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) World Championships ridden by Reanna Dillman. He moved a couple times after that and I got him in 2020. Since then he has lived a partially retired life. I have ridden horses my whole life but when I purchased Dwight, my goal was to learn how to ride and show a performance horse. I have been showing him in the non pro classes at the URCHA and the Mountain Valley Ranch Horse Shows in the versatility classes. We have 3 reserve championships under our belt.
I can’t say enough good about this horse but it is time for him to teach someone else and let them know what it feels like to be successful in the show ring. When he walks into the arena he drops 10 years and goes right to work. Youth, Jr. youth, high school rodeo, novice. Anyone can ride him! If you want to experience what it feels like to ride the right kind of horse, this one’s for you! Vices: He is a little cinchi and he cribs – minimal maintenance. Gotta keep a good boy feeling his best (adequan, wedge shoes, injections as needed).
